High Rise (Japan)

High Rise is the noise/psychedelic trio from Japan that is gritty, loud, and psychotic. Enough fuzz to cause septic death. So much wah, you can at loud volumes quite frankly feel your ears at the brink of sadistic implosion. Bands that went on to form from the ashes of high rise include acts such as music transonic, mainliner (highly, highly recommended), and acid mother's temple . I played both at a local veteran's bar in Miami when trying to DJ noise and psych once a month. I ended up having only a handful of close friends coming and enjoying the evening. Needless to say, the bar owner did not pass my version of the auditory Rorschach Test and the event lasted one evening. R.I.P. Vacilando Con Ayahuasca

(Psychedelic Speed Freaks upload coming as soon as I get a fucking needle for my record player)

This is Mainliner! (mellow out lp upload coming, I promise)

Les Rallizes Denudes

What can be said about this dejected, psychedelic, eastern-version of the velvet underground that some have dared call glam rock? Reverb/Delay drenched rock and roll with enough phaser and wah-induced rhythm to send you on a trance through the third-eye and back. Before Phoenix Records from the U.K. officially released the outstanding "Heavier than a death in the family" lp and the underrated "Blind Baby has its mother's eyes" lp, this bands bootlegs were being sold for a bit beyond the weighted price of gold. Having only had one official release in their discography, and the rest being bootlegs of live performances, Les Rallizes Denudes or sometimes known as, Hadaka no Rallizes offers a distinct and primitive form of rock-and-roll that any true lover of the genre will enjoy.

Read up on them from the great drudion himself, Julian Cope, on his book Japrocksampler, which ends up being snubbed on his list at number 3 by the following: Flower Travellin' Band-Satori (great release) and speed, glue, and shinki-eve (I nod my head in disapproval)

Go to wehavenozen's blog for access to all their stuff. He's done a great job putting the whole discography together and online for you guys and gals to enjoy. Here's the link:

The Vandellas

(love is like a ) heat wave is such a killer track. Martha Reeves' voice is so addicting. I can't put my finger down on it but the Vandellas do so much for me. The hooks, melodies, so very good.

Northern Soul Goodness on Youtube

If you're like me and spend countless hours on youtube trying to find new music because blogs (oh the irony) you usually visit haven't updated their site in a while, try breadmaker's site on youtube. I'll provide a link at the bottom. It seems as if this gentleman named Horace is battling cancer so visit his site and show some love. It's a great thing to have people like him share his love of music. There's tons of stuff to keep you busy for weeks. It doesn't get much better.

Here's a beautiful track by Little Hooks and the Kings called Something Money Can't Buy
